13th Symposium on Medical Technology

After the great success of the last 12 North German Dialogues, NSF is presenting this year’s Symposium in cooperation with Life Science Nord at the Marriott Hotel in the heart of Hamburg on September 19-20, 2024.

In September 2024 the EU Commission will start after 7 years a first call for evidence for a targeted Evaluations of EU-MDR and EU-IVDR: What has worked? And what needs improvement?

On March 13, 2024 the EU Parliament has approved a regulation on Artificial Intelligence – the AI Act – affecting also higher risk class Medical Devices and IVD(s) containing AI/ML-Systems!

With the European Election for EU Parliament June 6-9, 2024 a new EU Commission will be established with its own agenda and new priorities for health and safety likely by fall 2024.

The success to continue to innovate Medical Devices out of EU will depend on a philosophy for pro-active compliance beyond MDR/IVDR. The EU appears like a kaleidoscope for (over-)regulation defining EU market access harder than for any other region on this globe.

The 2024 Symposium shows how to master future regulations by transforming the given EU regulatory burden for Medical Device, new technologies, (heath) data usage, clinical investigations & evaluation into new advantages to compete more agile in all other global Medical Devices markets with – for sure – no higher requirements than we have in the EU in 2024/2029.

Mastering EU compliance for Medical Devices & IVD: In a Regulatory Landscape constantly changing innovating Medical Devices becomes an economic challenge for Medical Device Manufacturer:
At the 13th Medical Devices Symposium we have lectures on these three main topics:

  • Call for MDR / IVDR Evidence
7 years since 2017/745 and 2017/746 had been published the EU-Commission calls for an targeted Evaluation for Sept 24
  • Artificial Intelligence – AI Act
will become more and more a significant differentiator for cutting edge Medical Devices & innovative healthcare solutions.
  • Data & Clinical
Access to Health data as well as availability of clinical data to demonstrate compliance for Medical Devices will be-come the new driver for Innovation

Please also join us on the evening of September 19 for our traditional Symposium reception & dinner and to celebrate NSF’s 80th anniversary.

The Symposium will take place at the exclusive five-star MARRIOTT Hotel ABC-Straße 52 in Hamburg.
